Steve Heasley founded Butler Gymnastics Club, Inc. in March of 1974.
He is entering his 42nd year of service to the Butler community. Steve has been involved with gymnastics at every level of competition.
Steve competed as a member of the Butler High School Team. He pursued his competitive gymnastics career after high school at Slippery Rock State College (now Slippery Rock University), where he was a four-year letterman and captain of his team.
He earned the Outstanding Athlete of America Honors (All-American). His coaches and mentors included well-known gymnastic talents such as Bud Williams, Paul Uram, Dave McKinnis, and Steve Banjack.
After graduating from Slippery Rock with a Baccalaureate degree in Secondary Education, he continued his education by earning a Masters Degree in Secondary Education.
Steve began his coaching career at Butler Senior High School where he coached both the boys and girls gymnastics teams. During his 5-year tenure, Steve coached the girls gymnastics team to an unprecedented record of 54-2 !
This record stands as the best winning percentage overall of any sport at Butler High School.
The Butler gymnastics teams were twice WPIAL and PIAA champions under Steve Heasley.
